The Team Successfully Reach Cape
Town - 18/04/02
We arrived in Cape Town on 19th March, spent a week celebrating
our achievement, flew home to Britain and now, three weeks
later, are just starting to contemplate and rationalise our
experiences. It is a very different world here in England......

The Last Leg - 15/03/02
Due to extreme lack of funds we were forced to spend the bare minimum. At night we would pull off the road and find a secluded spot on which to camp without cost.

Making Time - 13/02/02
We completed our work at Rushere Hospital in Uganda on 16th January and set
off for Kampala, its capital, on 17th. The staff at the hospital were
delighted with our efforts and we left feeling that our month had been used
productively. |

The Team Meet Yoweri Musuveni,
President of Uganda - 14/01/02
For personal reasons Rachel decided to leave the expedition
and return home once we had finished our month at the
Pillar of Faith Home for Needy Children in Kisumu, Kenya.
It was a tough decision for her to make and one that was
extremely sad for the whole team.

Our Work Begins - 03/12/01
We have been at the Pillar of Faith Orphanage for a little
over a week now. The three weeks prior to our arrival
here presented us with some unforgettable experiences
and some testing challenges. |

On the Move Again - 06/11/01
Getting into the Sudan proved to be our biggest complication
so far. We spent over two weeks in Cairo before eventually
being issued with the necessary visas. The Sudan is an
extremely sensitive country and is wary of allowing western
travellers in. |

The Waiting Game - 02/10/01
We found out about the horrific terrorist attacks on the
U.S whilst buying supper in a Turkish store. Looking up
from the onion rack I caught a glimpse of the television.
As we stood mesmerised by the images of New York's smoking
Twin Towers, the locals seemed more interested in the
shocked expressions on our faces. |

Into Asia - 03/09/01
The campsite is nearly deserted tonight. The holiday season
in Turkey seems to have ended and we find ourselves spread
out over the campsite with all the facilities to ourselves
all for 10,000,000 Turkish lira (£5)... |

On the road at last - 08/08/01
As I write we are in the mountains north east of Nice
and plan to cross the Italian border this afternoon. We
crossed the southern part of the Alpes yesterday and,
after some hairy mountain roads, arrived in our present
location. |

Preparing to Leave - 16/07/01
With nineteen days before we set off for Cape Town, stress
levels are rising! We are still on course to leave on
4th August from Demelza House but we have a daunting task
ahead of us. |

Changing Gear - 11/05/01
The new kent2capetown.com HQ, perched on the famous white
cliffs, has been buzzing with activity since our last
update, earlier this month. |

 |
|
Rolling Along - 24/04/01
We are sitting together as a team in the house we will
be living in until we leave. Looking out over the white
cliffs of Dover we can see Calais, our first 'port of
call'. |

Well under way - 23/03/01
A great deal has happened over the past couple of months
and the project has made some huge advances. Our profile
has grown, corporate and individual support has been gained
and funds have been arriving in larger quantities than
ever. |

Conceived in the pub - 29/01/01
Like most hair brained ideas, project 'Kent2CapeTown.com'
was conceived in the pub, in this case a bar at Heathrow
Airport. |

Kent2CapeTown.com launches
- 22/12/00
The Internet is such a brilliant tool for expanding horizons
and without it the Kent2CapeTown team would not be able
to share their adventure so directly. |
